Using Lateral movement at long and close range lets you stay defensively effective but also enables killer attack sequences. This boxing footwork video will give you multiple options to execute lateral movement/side shifts to open up your opponent at all ranges.
There are a number of boxing footwork techniques that you can use to shift sideways. There is the basic side step, and this is very useful when cutting off the ring or when getting yourself away from the ropes, so in a defensive setting.
After that there are angled side steps, where you can use the side step but by working an angle you can keep the opponent in the strike zone.
When at close range you can really make things explosive with angled side steps/stance switches. These boxing footwork techniques rely on speed of execution, so drill, drill, drill!
