Good boxing technique is massively important to me. This should come as no surprise, I am a boxing coach after all. The thing is that I experienced something a while back whilst messing about on a golf driving range that taught me 3 big lessons.
Whilst I am not a golfer, I have never played aside from some messing about when I was a kid, when someone took the time to explain some of the technique, the raw basics, it struck me that actually there was more in common between golf and boxing that I would ever have thought.
It’s all about being coached, being coachable and recognising that technique, be it golf technique or boxing technique, is fundamental to achieving any level of mastery.
Cheers

Spot on Fran. I am an avid golfer and feel that boxing is the best crossover training. The rotations feels, balance and hand speed are all the same. Gary Player, one of the greatest golfers ever, and an undersized man who competed against big hitters like Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, described his golf swing as a right uppercut!
Wow, never knew that about Gary Player, definitely going to be doing some research. Thanks John, nice to gain a little more understanding based upon your contribution…much appreciated.
I think you are spot on…an excellent video. I am a little bit of a boxer and a little bit of a golfer, excelling at neither. However, I think hip rotation is very transferable. I had been thinking the two sports were reinforcing the correct movement and was delighted to see your confirmation. thank you!
Thank you Victor, really interesting insight from you and it’s given me food for thought – excellent
