How about mastering a technique that is used extensively in the amateurs and forms a fundamental part of the Oleksandr Usyk boxing style?
This technique is absolutely central to building a super-effective boxing style that is based upon mobility.
In this video you will get 3 boxing drills that will help you master the pendulum step.
These boxing drills are simple in nature, and are progressive, with each being a logical step on the journey to properly master the pendulum step.
If you are able to avoid the common faults that I describe in the video then in no time at all we’ll have you executing a pendulum step of which Oleksandr Usyk himself would be proud.
Cheers

Hi coach,
Trick question –
How do you *beat* a boxer that uses a lot of the pendulum step? Just keep the range?
Can’t keep with those younger horses anymore..:)
Thanks
Hi Neri
Feints (to trigger) and then be willing to push back with shots. Try to get them to commit. The double arm block is always good too👍
Great stuff as always Fran! This is really a challenge for me! I’m just not that light footed anymore…:-) I felt a bit silly and clumsy when i tried this, hoping not too many people were watching… Have to get over that i suppose because it really adds something to my boxing arsenal. Thank you!
That’s it Jack, it’s all about versatility and giving yourself options. Glad you enjoyed it pal, thanks for watching.
Love this lesson Fran and your demo on the heavy bag. If you do it on a double end bag it increases the difficulty markedly and really sharpens your footwork and hand eye co-ordination.
Good shout on the double end bag Bobby – combining feet would be a massive challenge👍
