Meeting an opponent who possesses big power shots can be very intimidating.
You want to avoid taking those clean power shots but at the same time winning is everything – What do we do?
The 3 tips I cover in the video are:
Tip #1 – Don’t Let Them Settle
Beat them to the punch. A power puncher often likes to set themselves for the ‘perfect shot’.
So, if you can keep a jab in their face, pepper them with shots, this will help keep them off balance and increase their levels of frustration.
Tip #2 – Be Mobile
For me, mobility beats power.
So, hit and move, don’t set your feet.
When you’ve landed your shot, shift position, don’t get caught in the strike zone.
Tip #3 – Spoil on the Inside
Spoil your opponent on the inside.
Get your head over their shoulder (this will restrict their ability to land.
Tie them up and when you are done, exit properly – duck and move away at an angle with your hands high.
So there you go, 3 tips to help deal with power punchers…towards the end I also tell you a tale from my boxing career, quite a rarity.
